2008 Holiday Postcards

What's going on here? Why it's our third annual Webcomic Holiday Postcard Fundraiser!

A whole bunch of webcomic artists have teamed up to bring you a set of classy holiday postcards. Our secret ulterior motive? By purchasing this years set of 25 postcards (five of each design) you'll actually be donating to
Child's Play, a charity that collects toys and donations for sick children each holiday season!

This year's artists are:

Vinson "Bleedman" Ngo
Grim Tales From Down Below

Yuko Ota
Johnny Wander

Jen Brazas
Mystic Revolution

Shawn Handyside
Halolz

Scott Ramsoomair
Super Effective

Like previous years, these postcards are 6"x4.25" and are printed by a professional printing company... which means they are of the highest quality! Also new this year, the cards have rounded corners! Neat!

Keep the cards as collector items, send them to friends and family for the holidays, or throw them like ninja stars at your enemies... no matter what you do with them, you'll be helping Child's Play to make the holidays a little brighter for kids in need!

So how can you pick up a set of these awesome cards? Just click on the donate buttons at the bottom of the page and send in your order! Cards will be sent out as quickly as possible to maximize your holiday card mailing timeframe!

2008 Holiday Postcards

Also new this year, we're going to offer a second set featuring all the card designs from the last two years (while our limited supplies last!)

This set features work by:

Brian Wilson
Hookie Dookie Panic / Geist Panik

David Stanworth
SNAFU Comics / TIN

Mohammad F. Haque
Applegeeks

Jamie Noguchi
Angry Zen Master / Erfworld

Scott Ramsoomair
VGCats

Shawn Handyside
Staccato

These cards are also 6"x4.25" and were printed by the same printing company as this years cards, so they are equally as awesome! The only difference between these cards and the new cards? No rounded corners.

But hey, if you were planning to throw these at people like ninja stars they would theoretically cause more damage*!

*I'm not actually suggesting you hurt people with our holiday postcards!

I don't want to seem crass, but this time of year there is a lot of shopping and gift giving going on, and I thought
I would try giving all the artists involved in this project a chance to plug one piece of merchandise from their comic here on the new fundraiser website. So if you're looking for some neat gift ideas, check these out!

Frequently Asked Questions about the Webcomic Holiday Postcard Fundraiser:

Who's involved with this project?

The fundraiser was started in 2006 by Shawn Handyside. In the past three years quite a few awesome webcomic artists have become involved, including: Scott Ramsoomair, Brian Wilson, David Stanworth, Mohammad Haque, Ananth Panagariya, Yuko Ota, Jamie Noguchi, Vinson "Bleedman" Ngo, and Jen Brazas.

These cards are awesome. Can I buy more than one set?

Sure! Go nuts! Who am I to stomp all over your dreams?

When do I get my cards?

All U.S. orders are mailed First-Class (average delivery 2-4 days) and all other orders are mailed out First-Class International (varies by destination). This time of year I'm doing a trip to the post office each day, so orders are shipped either the same day, or the following day from when they are placed.

Where did you get the idea for this?

Well five years ago I started doing a thing around the holidays where anyone who sent in their mailing address would get a Staccato holiday postcard. Each year it got more popular and I'd send out more postcards, and over the course of three years I learned how to automate the process and keep it pretty managable, but three years ago I reached a point where as much as I wanted to keep doing it, I wasn't sure I could keep up with the demand. So instead I came up with the idea for this little fundraiser so people still have the option of getting some postcards with my art, and we can also help out a great charity!

But wait, you didn't do a Staccato postcard this year! What's up with that?

Fans of Staccato (both of you) probably know that the strip is still stuck in hiatus, so instead I decided to do some art from another site I started up called Halolz (which has been pretty popular). Sure it's not actually a webcomic, but I'd have felt guilty doing another Staccato card when the strip has only updated a few times this year...

How many sets of cards are still available?

There should be a little under 200 sets available for the new 2008 cards. The older set of cards I have no idea... they are going to be sold on a first come first serve basis until we run out, so I recommend getting your donation in for those as soon as you can!

How long will the cards be available for purchase?

This year I've decided to keep them up for sale probably into mid-January (if we have enough left). I don't expect many people to order that late after the holidays, but I will keep it up as an option just in case!

Are these cards nice?

Are you kidding? They're awesome! Professionally printed by a large printing company, these postcards are 4.25" x 6" with a glossy "C1S aqueous coating" on the front and a tasteful B&W layout on the back. Also they have a full bleed so the artwork goes right to the edge of the card. These postcards are quite sharp looking! Also the 2008 cards feature rounded edges! Snazzy!

So what do the back of the cards look like?

Here's a pic of the back of one of the cards. The design has stayed the same every year, just with different comic logos and copyright information.

I only like one of the postcard designs, can I just have all of my cards be that postcard?

Nope! That wouldn't really work... because then someone else might not get any of that card!

I already donated to Child's Play because I'm so cool! Can I get some free postcards?

Nope! If you want cards you have to donate again here! This is totally seperate from Child's Play, but all the proceeds will go to Child's Play when it's over.
